Pets that are stressed and anxious during a major weather event can lead to pets becoming injured or lost.

Here are some helpful tips for keeping your pet calm(er) during a major weather event:
 

• Be home with your pet where possible.

• Remove your dog from the garden, please keep them inside with you, or in an area of the home that is the most soundproof.

• Use masking noises like playing the radio.

• Use medication where needed - If we have seen your animal in the last 6 months we may be able to dispense medication to keep them calm during the storm, please contact the clinic.

• Use over the counter pheromone products such as Feliway for cats and Adaptil for dogs.

• Give comfort and attention when needed.

• Use calming strategies: wrapping your dog tightly in a towel, giving your dog a firm hug around the chest, showing your dog you are calm.
